Repairs underway on water main break that services Austintown, Canfield

AUSTINTOWN — Youngstown Water Department officials are hoping to repair a water main to restore water pressure today in Austintown and Canfield townships.

Eugene Leson Jr., the department’s chief engineer, said a contractor was working on a communications tower on Kirk Road and hit the water main line there Wednesday afternoon.

“That’s one of the main feeder [lines] for Austintown and Canfield,” he said. “We didn’t lose water. Pressure is down a bit while we’re fixing it.”

He said he expects the repair to be completed later today.
