A West Evergreen Avenue man is in the Mahoning County jail on $5,000 bond after state troopers said he led one of them on a chase early Tuesday at speeds up to 90 miles per hour.

Brandon Clinkscale, 23, was arraigned in municipal court before Magistrate Anthony Sertick on charges of failure to comply and obstruction of official business.

Clinkscale was arrested at a home in the 700 block of South Belle Vista Avenue about two hours after the chase began, reports said.

A trooper with the Canfield post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol was traveling east on Mahoning Avenue near Vial Avenue in Austintown about 1:10 a.m. when he noticed a pickup truck reports said was driven by Clinkscale that had no headlights on.

Reports said the trooper pulled the truck over and got out of his cruiser, but before he could reach the truck, the truck drove away at high speed.

The trooper then got inside his cruiser and chased the truck, which drove at speeds of about 90 mph and still did not have headlights on, reports said.

Reports said the trooper lost sight of the truck around Wilkinson Avenue and while checking the area, he saw a man he thought was Clinkscale running on the sidewalk and then into a house in the 700 block of South Belle Vista Avenue. Reports said the trooper also saw the truck in the yard of the home.

The trooper waited for backup then tried to take Clinkscale into custody, but he refused to come outside, reports said. City officers then arrived and set up a perimeter around the house.

Three women who know Clinkscale also arrived, and one appeared drunk and was very belligerent, reports said. She was taken into custody because she kept wandering around the perimeter.

A negotiator was called, and after two hours, Clinkscale came out of the house and was taken into custody. Reports said he was very uncooperative and he denied driving the truck.

Reports also said city prosecutors will be contacted to see if charges can be filed against the woman who was wandering around as officers were trying to take Clinkscale into custody.
