FOOD SALES AND DINNERS


THURSDAY

Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave. Ext., North Lima, will have its monthly drive-through stuffed chicken breast dinner from 3 to 6 p.m. or until sold out. The dinner includes potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie for $7 per dinner. Drive up to the door, and someone will take the dinners to your car. Call 330-549-2588 to reserve your dinners. Leave your name, phone number, the number of dinners you want and approximate time you will arrive. A percentage of the profits is used for local mission projects.

Grace Lutheran Church, 162 S. Raccoon Road, Austintown, is selling takeout stuffed chicken breast dinners from 3 to 6 p.m. or until sold out. The cost is $7 each, and dinners include mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans and a brownie. Reserve dinners on the day of the sale by calling 330-792-5889. Leave your name, phone number, the number of dinners and the approximate time you will pick them up. Drive to the back of the church, and your dinners will be taken to you. Dinners also are available without reservations.

VFW Triangle Post 2799 Ladies Auxiliary will sponsor a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. at the VFW Hall, 3161 E. South Range Road in New Springfield. Adults dinners are $7 and dinners for children under 12 are $3.50. All carryout dinners are $7. The menu includes meatballs, salad, Italian bread and coffee or tea.

VFW Col. Louis J. Campbell Post 3538, 157 Lowellville Road, Struthers, will serve spaghetti dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Meals include meatballs, salad, bread and butter, and coffee. The cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children under 8. Carryout orders are $7.50 and will be available only until 6 p.m. Containers will be provided.

FRIDAY

Canfield Lions Club will have a fish fry from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St., Canfield. Meals include a choice of baked or fried fish; french fries, macaroni and cheese, pirogi or haluski; and coleslaw, green beans, roll, dessert and beverage. The cost is $11.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi for $5.50 a dozen. Orders can be called to 330-542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Walk-ins are welcome.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, sells potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi on Fridays. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $6.50 per dozen. Pirogi lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Walk-in orders are welcome.

SATURDAY

Smith Corners United Methodist Church, 3000 S. Canfield Niles Road, Austintown, will serve a pancake, sausage and egg breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for 10 and under. Proceeds go to World Service Projects.

St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 4453 Warren-Sharon Road, Vienna, will offer its Second Saturday Supper from 4 to 6:30 p.m. It comprises baked or fried fish, pirogi, parsley potatoes, coleslaw, applesauce, bread and butter and beverage. Takeouts will be available. The cost is $9 for adults and $6 for children under 12.

Trinity Lutheran Church, 78 E. Liberty St., Girard, will host an all-you-can-eat Amish dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Dinners are $15 for adults and $5 for ages 5 to 12; those 4 and under eat for free. For tickets call 330-545-6210 or 330-766-2927.

SUNDAY

Christ the Good Shepherd Parish will have a stuffed cabbage dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church Hall, 159 Reed Ave., Campbell. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Takeout orders are available. Tickets can be purchased from parishioners or call 330-755-1979.

Mount Zion Baptist Church, 827 Wilson Ave., Youngstown, will sponsor a takeout spaghetti dinner from 1 to 4 p.m. at the church. The event is a fundraiser for the upcoming 95th church anniversary Oct. 25. The menu includes salad and dessert. For information call the church at 330-746-3601.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mount Carmel, Youngstown, will sponsor a spaghetti dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church hall. Prices are $7.50 for adults and $5 for children. All carryouts are $7.50; containers are 75 cents or you can provide your own. The senior citizens will have a basket raffle during dinner.

Pacentrano Club, 2629 Craiger Ave., Youngstown, will serve spaghetti dinners from noon to 4 p.m. every Sunday during football season. The dinners are $8 each for takeout or sit-down. For information or to place takeout orders call 330-788-3393.

TAKING ORDERS

First Presbyterian Church of Girard, 890 Church Hill Road, will be selling 15-inch homemade pepperoni rolls for $8 each, potato and chicken noodle soup for $5 per quart and $3 per pint, fresh-baked bread for $2 for a large loaf and $1.50 for a small loaf, and homemade sticky buns for $2.50 for four. Pickup is from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 19. Orders should be placed by calling 330-990-4414 and must be received by Sept. 16.

UPCOMING

Brookfield Firemen Ladies Auxiliary will host an all you can eat soup buffet from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 17 at Brookfield Fire Hall, 774 state Route 7 North. Dinners include dessert and a beverage. Tickets are $6 per dinner.

Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will resume selling potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi on Sept. 18. The cost is $5.50 a dozen. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi while supplies last. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.
