Salem High School class of 1960 celebrates 55th reunion

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Salem High School class of 1960 celebrated its 55th reunion. Frank and Molly Copacia hosted an informal dinner for 75 attendees on Aug. 21. Classmates toured the Museum of Transportation and Industry at Salem Historical Society on Aug. 22, with a book signing of “The Road to Columbus,” chronicling the Salem Quaker 1959-1960 basketball team, by author and 1960 alumnus David Hunter. That evening, the group gathered for a buffet dinner at the Salem Golf Club. Entertainment was provided by DJ Just Kelly and alumni Frank Copacia and Pat (Roof) Ellenwood sang for their classmates. Alumnus Tim Birchfield agreed to monitor a Salem High School Class of 1960 Facebook page for interested classmates. Alumni who enjoyed the weekend’s festivities included, in front, from left, David Stratton, Carolyn (Sanlo) Alesi, Tim Burchfield, Gary Schnorrenberg, John Hanna, Joyce (Halverstadt) Schaefer, Sally (Fester) Horning, Marsha (Hundertmarck) Shepherd, Kay Kuhl and Milton Shark; and in second row, Mickey (Cope) Weaver, Bob Schaefer, husband of Joyce Schaefer, Vince Horning, Dave Hunter, Marilyn Fenton and Ed Yates.
