YOUNGSTOWN

Mercy Health Youngstown, formerly Humility of Mary Health Partners, will host three rapid-hire career fairs this month for registered nurses and case managers.

The hiring events are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, 8401 Market St., Boardman; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 15 at St. Joseph Warren Hospital, 667 Eastland Ave., Warren, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 17 at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, 1044 Belmont Ave.

Interviews are conducted first-come, first-served. Applicants should bring several copies of their resumes and a list of nursing jobs for which they would like to interview. Several full- and part-time positions are available with $5,000 sign-on bonuses available to experienced RNs hired to work in the emergency department or labor and delivery.

Delay the Disease

HOWLAND

Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of ValleyCare Health System of Ohio, is offering Delay the Disease, a free, evidence-based fitness program for people with Parkinson’s disease. Classes are every Friday in Hillside’s Boardroom, 8747 Squires Lane N.E.

This free program is designed to empower those living with Parkinson’s by optimizing their physical function and helping to delay the progression of symptoms associated with the disease.

“We are excited to bring this extraordinary program to Parkinson’s patients in our community,” said Ian Cooper, Hillside’s chief executive officer. “We are providing them with an opportunity to help better manage their disease through exercise.”

Karen Hartman, Hillside physical therapist, and Lindsay Meikle, Hillside occupational therapist, are the certified instructors who lead the classes.

St. Joe’s at the Mall

St. Joe’s at the Mall (SJATM), an outreach program of Mercy Health Youngstown, formerly Humility of Mary Health Partners, is open 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Located next to Sears at Eastwood Mall, SJATM provides durable home medical equipment and offers wellness and fitness classes and programs.

Free blood-pressure screenings are offered from 9 a.m. to noon every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and from 2 to 4 p.m. every Tuesday and Wednesday; “Strong Bones ~ Strong People,” a free 12-week program of personalized strength training for those who have osteoporosis, low bone density or are at risk to improve muscle strength, and strength training for weight management is available for a monthly fee. St. Joe’s at the Mall is a SilverSneakers Æ and Silver & Fit site. People with a Medicare Part C plan may be eligible to participate without a fee.

Northeast Ohio Adoption Services (NOAS), 5000 E. Market St., Suite 26, invites Ohio couples or singles to register for a free Adoption/Foster Care Pre-Placement Education series starting Saturday and ending Sept. 29.
