Fair reaches more than 360K on social media

Fair officials report that, in an effort to expand the fair’s social media efforts, it reached more than 360,000 people on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter as of Monday.

Successful concert

Fair officials say Sunday’s concert at the grandstand – Christian music group MercyMe – was overwhelmingly successful, with about 6,100 people in attendance.

Medical treatment

Over a five-day period, Red Cross workers treated 443 people at the Canfield Fair, fair officials reported.

Six people were transported to the hospital, and eight were treated with IVs.

5K raises about $3,500

The fair’s annual 5K Rooster Run/Walk drew 171 participants and raised approximately $3,500, fair officials reported Monday.

Attendance is up

The fair’s five-day attendance total topped last year’s, fair officials reported Monday.

The fair drew a crowd of 73,464 people Sunday, which was 19,894 more visitors than Sunday attendance last year.

The five-day attendance total this year is 244,008 people, which is an increase of 10,071 visitors compared with last year.

Pig-iron results

CANFIELD

The winner in the light-weight class of Monday’s Open Draft Horse Pig Iron Derby was Tom Bowman.

The winner of the heavy-weight division was Victor Bonacassio.

The grandstand event requires two-horse teams belonging to competitors to pull weights the farthest distance.
