Campbell police arrest two people after chase
CAMPBELL — Police arrested a man and a woman after a car chase shortly before 5 p.m. today.
An officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop for a license plate violation, according to a police report, but the car briefly stopped in the parking lot of a McCartney Road business before leaving the lot and then taking off down Jacobs Road. The car, however, kept increasing its speed and crashed into some shrubs after failing to negotiate a curve near the Jacobs Road bridge, the report states.
The car’s driver, Denzel Case, 21, of Youngstown attempted to run away on foot and was eventually arrested after more officers arrived on the scene, police said. Case had 17 suspected Tramadol pills in his pocket, police said. A search of the vehicle also yielded a digital scale with suspected marijuana on it, the report states.
Case, who also is wanted by Youngstown police for failure to appear for a drug possession charge, faces felony charges of fleeing/failure to comply with the order of a police officer and possession of drugs, along with misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, improper display of license plates, use of illegal license plates, driving under suspension and obstructing official business.
The vehicle’s passenger, Domonique Venable, 29, of Campbell, faces misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing official business. Both Case and Venable are also charged with endangering children, due the presence of a 9-year old and a 5-year old child in the vehicle’s backseat.
They will be arraigned Friday in Campbell Municipal Court.
