Family day at park includes campout

BOARDMAN

Outdoor Family Day will take place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Boardman Park. Admission is free with a nonperishable food item donation for Second Harvest Food Bank.

Activities will include archery, fishing, a deer blind demo, taxidermy, live snake exhibit, wagon rides, live music and more.

At 6 p.m. Saturday, Family Camp Out in the Park with Boy Scout Troop 60 will begin. Bring tents and sleeping bags. Registration is $7 per family. Check-in and tent setup starts at 6 p.m. There will be a campfire, hot dog dinner, s’mores, a movie and more.

Softball tourney for breast cancer

AUSTINTOWN

A Way With Words’ sixth annual Saving Second Base co-ed softball tournament for breast cancer will take place Sept. 20 at Austintown Township Park on Kirk Road. Opening ceremony will start at 7:45 a.m.

The ROCcK Choir will sing the National Anthem and breast-cancer survivor Patty McShuley, who runs a foundation that provides women with wigs, scarves and other items, will throw out the first pitch.

Events will include an appearance by local model Lisa Neeld-Infante from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., a silent auction, and breast cancer T-shirts for sale.

All proceeds will benefit cancer survivors.
