Logan Hill had three hits, including a double, and scored three runs to lead the West Virginia Black Bears to a 12-8 victory over the Mahoning Valley Scrappers on Sunday at Eastwood Field.
Nathan Winfrey went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI for the Scrappers (31-43), who fell behind 5-0 in the top of the first inning.
Ka’ai Tom singled, homered and scored two runs in the loss, while Jodd Carter added two doubles, two RBIs and a run, Willi Castro singled, tripled, drove in a run and scored a run and Mark Mathias had two hits, including a double, and scored a run.
Micah Miniard started and lasted just two-thirds of an inning, giving up five runs on six hits and a walk.
Brock Hartson (4-1) got the loss, giving up three runs on five hits in 3 1/3 innings of relief.
Juan Paula got the win in relief for the Black Bears (41-34), the Pirates’ affiliate that leads the wild card standings by one game with one game remaining.
Mahoning Valley is tied with the Batavia Muckdogs for the worst record in the NYPL.
The teams will play the season finale at 1 p.m. today at Eastwood Field.
