Free shuttle service offered to fairgrounds

CANFIELD

The Canfield Fair is offering free shuttle services from Canfield High School, 100 Cardinal Drive, to the fairgrounds from noon until midnight today and Monday.

Fair visitors can park their vehicles at the high school free of charge. Buses will drop off and pick up at Gate 5.

The service is intended to help with traffic flow and make parking more convenient for visitors, fair officials say.

Tractors on parade

CANFIELD

Eighty units were part of the antique tractor parade Friday night at the Canfield Fair, fair officials reported.

All but one of the antique units made it through the procession, fair officials said.

Strickland stumps

CANFIELD

Former Ohio governor and current Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Ted Strickland paid a visit to the Canfield Fair on Saturday afternoon.

Strickland visited the Democratic Party’s tent and toured the fairgrounds.

MercyMe highlights Faith and Family Day

CANFIELD

Christian band MercyMe will play a show at the grandstand at 8 p.m. tonight as part of the Canfield Fair’s Faith and Family Day.

Tickets are available at the grandstand box office and at www.canfieldfair.com.

Three-day attendance falls from 2014 levels

CANFIELD

The Canfield Fair logged attendance of 42,117 people Friday, fair officials reported.

That brings the three-day total – starting with opening day on Wednesday – to 96,822.

Fair officials say those numbers are a little low – with 9,839 fewer visitors than last year’s three-day total – but they expected the fair to draw bigger crowds Saturday, today and Monday.
