Movies that will be available this month from video-on-demand services of all cable and satellite

Movies that will be available this month from video-on-demand services of all cable and satellite systems include:

v “Love & Mercy” (Sept. 11): This music biopic about Beach Boys genius Brian Wilson has Paul Dano and John Cusack playing the younger and older Wilson, respectively. It’s uneven, but there’s rich detail about the making of the band’s 1966 masterpiece, “Pet Sounds.”

v “Cinderella” (Sept. 15): Disney’s live-action remake comes surprisingly close to rivaling the animated original.

v “Furious 7, Extended Edition” (Sept. 15): More wild stunts with Vin Diesel and his too-cool crew.

v “Pitch Perfect 2” (Sept. 22): Not as good as the original. Still, Rebel Wilson makes the most of her screen time and some of the a cappella cameos are brilliant.

v “Entourage” (Sept. 29): Whatever macho charm the HBO series once had, it has curdled into garden-variety misogyny in the movie version.

“Mythbusters” (9 p.m., Discovery Channel): On tonight’s installment of “Mythbusters,” Jamie and Adam want to know if it’s possible to dodge a Stormtrooper’s gun as they take on “Star Wars.”

Chrissie Hynde on reckless life

NEW YORK

Early in her life, legendary rocker Chrissie Hynde, the Akron native and sultry-voiced singer with The Pretenders, fell in with a band of outlaw bikers.

She wound up being beaten, robbed and raped, she says in an interview to air on this week’s “Sunday Morning” on CBS (9 a.m.). Hynde, 63, is philosophical about the assault.

“If you hung out with those guys, that’s what happened. That’s the way it was,” she says.

Hynde says she didn’t fear for her life, though she should have. “We were just trying to score pot and see bands,” she explains. “And if motorcycles were part of it, then even better.”

Hynde writes about the attack in her new memoir, “Reckless: My Life as a Pretender.”
