MINERAL RIDGE

First Presbyterian Church, 3654 Main St., will begin the fall season on Kickoff Sunday on Sept. 13 with muffins and beverages at 9:15 a.m. in fellowship hall.

Those attending are asked to wear a shirt that represents their favorite football or soccer team. There will be face painting and getting acquainted before church school classes.

Worship will be at 10:30 a.m., and second- and third-graders will receive Bibles. After the service, there will be a potluck tailgate lunch. Those participating should provide a casserole or dessert to share.

Apollo’s Fire

YOUNGSTOWN

In collaboration with St. John’s Episcopal Church, WYSU is co-sponsoring a concert by members of the Baroque orchestra, Apollo’s Fire, at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at the church, 323 Wick Ave.

Named for the classical god of music and the sun, Apollo’s Fire was established in 1992 by award-winning harpsichordist and conductor Jeannette Sorrell. Internationally known, the orchestra is based in Cleveland.

Tickets are on sale for open seating at the church. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased online at stjohnohio.org.

A $35 option also is available and includes a meal at 5:30 p.m. at V2 Wine Bar downtown. Seating for the dinner is limited to 100 people.
