CORTLAND

The Keelings will be in concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Bible Church, 2878 Warren-Meadville Road.

Now in their 21st year, The Keelings have recorded more than 26 albums. Members are Randy Keeling; his sons, Jeff and Doug; his daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Pat Willaman; and sound technician Ray Young.

A nursery will be provided. A free-will offering will be accepted.

Groening lecture

The Bruno Groening Circle of Friends will have a 90-minute lecture, featuring Arlene Barkan, leader of the Youngstown and Cleveland Communities, and Internet Children’s Community of North America, at 6 p.m. Thursday at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 N. Broad St.

A short documentary film will be shown. Admission is free.

The Circle of Friends is not affiliated with Lord of Life Lutheran Church or any other religion. Bruno Groening (1906-59) was a German healer who taught about the power of faith in overcoming disease. The Circle of Friends passes on his teachings through information lectures. To attend community hours, participants must be introduced at an information lecture.

Evangelist series

The “Last Call” evangelist series will be at 7 p.m. Friday on “The Last Church Call;” 11 a.m. Sept. 12 on “The Last Personal Call;” and 2 p.m. Sept. 13 on “The Last Community Call” at Seventh-day Adventist Church, 7668 Glenwood Ave.

St. John Chrysostom

YOUNGSTOWN

The Society of St. John Chrysostom, Youngstown Warren Chapter, will present “Reading the Fathers Without Denominational Prejudices, The Immaculate Conception in Orthodox Theology as a Case Study for Overcoming other Assumed Disagreements between the Roman and Orthodox Churches” at 7 p.m. Sept. 15 at St. Christine Church, 3165 S. Schenley Ave.

Speaker will be the Rev. Chris Kappes, professor of patristics and liturgy at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Byzantine Catholic Seminary in Pittsburgh. The program is free and open to all.

The Society of St. John Chrysostom is an ecumenical organization of Catholic and Orthodox clergy and laity, working to make known the history, worship, spirituality, discipline and theology of eastern Christendom.
