church ushers | In Youngstown

Youngstown is the eighth city in Ohio to host the Interdenominational Church Ushers Association. In 2009, Kim Moses and the late Jacqueline Austin of Union Baptist Church studied to be certified instructors. Cora Evans, a member of Mount Zion Baptist, 827 Wilson Ave., Youngstown, is current president, and Moses is vice president.

Introduction: A luncheon is planned from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 12 at Mount Zion Church to introduce local ministers to the Youngstown Chapter of ICUA. There will be a short demonstration on ushering techniques.

School of ushering: Youngstown Chapter of ICUA will sponsor a school of ushering from 10 a.m. to noon every other Saturday, starting Oct. 3, at Mount Zion Baptist Church. Classes continue through April with testing in May. There is a $10 fee for the ushering book.
