YOUNGSTOWN

A woman who was boarding up her house to keep an ex-boyfriend out told a judge that he still showed up at her door.

The woman testified in municipal court Friday n a preliminary hearing for Michael Wick, 45, who faces a charge of aggravated burglary.

She said she had just moved back to her home in the 1900 block of Highland Avenue after staying with her parents for more than a week because she was afraid of Wick.

She said her stepfather needed supplies to secure her front door because Wick had damaged it so badly that it wouldn’t lock. When her stepfather left, it was just a short time before Wick was on her front porch, the woman explained.

Judge Elizabeth Kobly bound over a charge of aggravated burglary against Wick to a Mahoning County grand jury. He is accused of forcing his way into the woman’s house about 2 p.m. Aug. 22. He was arrested several days later on a warrant.

The woman testified that she was yelling at Wick to leave, but he would not. Her mother called, and she told her mother to call the police, the woman testified.

Wick then kicked in a side door, punched the woman in the stomach and left with her cellphone. Later he posted disparaging comments about her on social media websites, the woman testified.

“I couldn’t get out the front door fast enough before he was attacking me and took my phone,” the woman testified.

When she was asked to identify Wick in court for the record, the woman said she was trying to avoid eye contact with him.

“I’m trying not to look at him,” the woman testified.

City police officer Michael Conway, one of the officers who was called to the home, testified that the dead bolt was broken on the side door where it was kicked in by Wick.

Conway also said the victim was very upset, but it was more anger, he said.

“She was angry for the most part,” Conway testified. “Like she couldn’t believe this had happened to her again.” Wick remains in the county jail on $50,000 bond.
