“American Masters: ALTHEA GIBSON” (9 P.M., PBS): The latest installment of “American Masters” turns the spotlight on Althea Gibson, who, in the 1950s, emerged as the unlikely queen of the segregated tennis world. She was the first black player to play and win at Wimbledon and the U.S. Nationals.

“Jimi Hendrix: ELECTRIC CHURCH” (9 P.M., SHOWTIME): This new documentary recalls the legendary musician’s 1970 performance at the Atlanta Pop Festival. The film features interviews with band members Billy Cox and Mitch Mitchell, as well as Paul McCartney and Steve Winwood.

“Bering Sea Gold” (9 p.m., Discovery): A new season begins.

Salem theater unveils classes

SALEM

Salem Community Theater’s performing arts program will have an open house Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to unveil its dance and acting classes, which begin Tuesday.
