Restaurant employee arrested for striking co-worker
YOUNGSTOWN — Police arrested an employee at a 1760 Belmont Ave. restaurant after a co-worker accused him of punching her because she took a break.
Police were called to the Main Moon restaurant about 7:40 p.m. for a report of a woman inside an SUV in the parking lot being beaten.
Reports said the woman told police she had a backache and was tired and needed a nap. So she went into the SUV to take a break.
Reports said another employee, Deshong Zhu, 35, came outside and was angry because she was not working. Reports said the woman told police Zhu pulled her out of the SUV, punched her in the face then went back inside.
The woman said she was scared but she was also adamant she did not want to press charges, reports said.
Reports said police tried to question Zhu, who told them he didn't speak English. He was then seen taking orders on the phone in English.
Reports said Zhu eventually did admit to hitting his co-worker.
Zhu was arrested and taken to the Mahoning County jail on a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence.
