Fair dedicates a gate entrance to Gibby

CANFIELD — This morning a dedicated man earned a gated dedicated in his honor at the Canfield Fairgrounds.

C. Gilbert "Gibby" James Jr.'s name is now printed across the entrance to Gate 7 right next to the Western Reserve Village, which he dedicated much of his life to developing.

Gibby served on the Canfield Fair Board, and a list of other boards in the area, for more than 20 years. During that time he was in charge of many different areas at the fair, but the Western Reserve Village was always a favorite.

He told the crowd filled with his family, friends and admirers the Western Reserve Village was made possible by the community not just him.

"Everyone is responsible," the 91-year-old said.
