Wing challenge to benefit Homes for Kids

The third annual Steel Valley Wing Challenge will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Mahoning Country Club, 710 E. Liberty St. It will benefit Homes for Kids/Child and Family Solutions.
The barbecue wing eating contest is limited to the first 20 registered participants and the cost is $10 per person, which includes an event T-shirt. The first person to eat 12 barbecue wings will win the coveted Bad to the Bone trophy and a prize package worth more than $150. Contestants must purchase an event ticket.
Event tickets are $25 for adults and $8 for children 13 and under, and children 5 and under are admitted for free, and will include a beverage and tasting of more than 30 flavors of wings. A cash bar will be available. Reserved tables of 8 may be purchased in advance. Individual tickets will be available at the door.

Steve Granato from Mix 98.9 will be the master of ceremonies. Sharing their varied flavors of wings will be RP McMurphy’s, Lake Tavern, Tangier Bar & Pizza, Yankee Lake Inn, The Rig, The Smoking Gun Saloon and more. Celebrity judges include State Representative Sean O’Brien, The Tribune Chronicle’s Andy Gray, The Gibson Agency’s Andrew Thompson and WFMJ-TV Reporter Janet Rogers.
Celery and carrots will be provided by Save-A-Lot and dessert will be provided by One Hot Cookie.
