The Canfield Baseball Club has awarded its annual CBC Scholarship to two former players for their involvement with the club over the years. Vincent Leone and Karina Kennedy were both awarded $500 by CBC President Jack Kucek Aug. 15.

“The CBC Scholarship is a way for our club to give back to the kids of the club. We wish we could do more. College is a very important step for our players. Eventually their playing careers will end, but a college degree never ends,” Kucek said.

Leone will attend Malone University in the fall to major in Communication Arts and minor in Pastoral Ministry. Kennedy will attend Kent State University to major in Speech Pathology and Audiology.

Leone and Kennedy started playing at the club when they were both 6-years-old, and are thankful for the memories they have of the Canfield Baseball Club.

“I will never forget all the memories I have here as a little kid. Thank you to the club for the memories and for choosing me to receive the CBC Scholarship,” Leone said.

“I would like to thank the club for all the opportunities it has provided me and am grateful for being chosen for the CBC Scholarship,” Kennedy said.

Kucek also touched on the memories the club provides all its members.

“One of the most important things this club wants to accomplish is to create memories for all our players,” Kucek said.
