Pedestrian killed at Route 11 ramp near Cortland

CORTLAND

A pedestrian was killed in a 9:08 p.m. Wednesday traffic crash in the southbound on ramp to state Route 11 from state Route 305 in Fowler Township.

The pedestrian, Ronald Shetler, of Cortland, was walking in the roadway when he was struck by Kathryn Fatula, of Newton Falls, who was driving a 2011 Subaru southbound in the on ramp. Shetler was pronounced dead at the scene, the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Southington Post reported.

Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash with regard to the pedestrian, the patrol said.

The ramp was closed for about two hours. The crash remains under investigation.
