Man beat wife because she wouldn't get him beer

YOUNGSTOWN

A man accused of beating his wife Aug. 15 because she would not get him beer was sentenced to the maximum six month jail term for domestic violence today in municipal court.

John Ahern, 47, of Warren, said nothing before the sentence was handed down by Judge Elizabeth Kobly. The victim was present in the courtroom and her neck and eyes were still scarred heavily from the Aug. 15 assault.

Additionally, Assistant City Prosecutor Jeffrey Moliterno told the judge the victim had suffered from a stroke previously and after she was beaten she could not get up. Pictures taken of her at the time of the attack show one side of her face completely purple from the bruising she sustained.
