The new treasurer for the Hubbard Exempted Village School District is a graduate of Hubbard local schools.
The Hubbard Board of Education voted to approve Amber Babik as the district’s treasurer at a special meeting this week.
Babik’s annual salary will be $65,000. Her contract runs through July 31, 2018.
Babik graduated from Youngstown State University in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting. She went on to spend 24 years working for Huntington National Bank and also served as treasurer for the Rotary Club of Hubbard and the Hubbard Area Chamber of Commerce.
The district’s previous treasurer, Rhonda Baldwin-Amorganos, resigned this summer and now works for Howland Local Schools
In other business, the school board voted to ban the operation of drones on school property.
Drones have gained popularity as a way to film events, including high schools football games. The Ohio High School Athletic Association, however, has urged school districts to restrict drone use out of concern for safety.
Last month, the Liberty Board of Education banned drones on school property and the Canfield Fair Board banned drones on fairgrounds.
