10 Phantoms return for training camp

Ten members of the 2014-15 Youngstown Phantoms are in training camp.

Returning are goaltender Colin DeAugustine; defensemen Vas Kolias, Kris Myllari, Matt Miller and Ty Farmer; and forwards Kevin Conley, James Winkler, Matt Alvaro, Chase Pearson and Lukas Craggs.

In all, 27 skaters and two goalies are in camp. Three were selected in June’s NHL Draft: Pearson (Detroit Red Wings), defenseman Ryan Shea (Chicago Blackhawks) and goaltender Ryan Bednard (Florida Panthers).

The Phantoms will play two exhibition games at The Ice Zone against North American Hockey opponents. The Phantoms faceoff against the Johnstown Tomahawks at 7 p.m. on Sept. 8, and the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Knights at 1 p.m. on Sept. 12. Those games are open to the public.

The Phantoms will play in a preseason USHL event at the new UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry, Pa. The Phantoms will compete against the USA U-17 team on Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. and USA U-18 team on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.
