Q. Best memory of being in band/marching band?

A. Marissa: Some of my best memories have been the football games. It is fun to be with my band friends in the bandstand, and we enjoy performing.

Francesca: One of my favorite memories from marching band was going to Disney World for New Year’s Eve and marching in the Main Street parade. It was really cool to be there with all of my friends. I will also remember the Massillon Band Nights that we performed at each year, they were so much fun and we got to perform in front of hundreds of people.

Taylor: My favorite marching band memory was the Disney World trip in 2013 when we got to march on New Year’s Eve in the Main Street parade. I had a lot of fun marching in the parade and riding the rides with my friends.

Q. Why is music important to you?

A. Marissa: Music helps develop your brain and has a positive impact on learning. My favorite musical number was one that we performed in my freshman year when we played “All of the Lights.”

Francesca: Music is very important to me because it is a great way to express yourself. One of my songs that we performed was in my freshman year when we played “All of the Lights.” I liked it because it was a real high energy son and we had a cool dance that we performed while playing.

Taylor: Music is important to me because I have participated in band for eight years. It is a large part of my life. My favorite songs I have performed are “Russian Sailors Dance” and “Magical Mystery Tour.”

Q. If you were speaking to a group of fifth-grade students who were thinking of joining the band, what would you tell them is the number 1 reason for joining the band?

A. Marissa: Making new friends and a lot of great memories.
