Boardman police gets state traffic-safety funding grant
BOARDMAN — The township police department has received $41,899 in federal traffic safety funding from the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Ohio Traffic Safety Office for fiscal year 2016, Police Chief Jack Nichols announced today.
The funds will be used to help officers target violators for aggressive-driving offenses such as speed, distracted driving, impaired driving and seat-belt usage, as well as motorcycle-crash reduction.
The department will conduct high-visibility enforcement, work overtime hours, and host educational and awareness events with grant funds, according to a news release.
