Woman may face fraud charge
BOARDMAN
A Youngstown woman who faces an impaired-driving charge after purportedly crashing her vehicle while intoxicated may also face an identity-fraud charge.
LaTonya Clark-Square, 49, is charged with operating a vehicle while impaired, driving under suspension and failure to control on private property.
Township police responded to a Simon Road parking lot Tuesday in reference to a crash and observed heavy damage to the vehicle in question. Clark-Square was arrested after reportedly failing a field-sobriety test.
The additional identity-fraud charge could be added, according to the report, because police reportedly found multiple identification cards with variations of her name on her person.
Scam about bill hits Inner Circle Pizza
AUSTINTOWN
Inner Circle Pizza in the township was scammed for $2,015. According to a police report, a person that claimed to be a representative of Ohio Edison called the pizza shop, 4520 Mahoning Ave., and said the store was two months behind on its electric bill.
That bill, $2,000, was needed to be paid within the next 30 minutes or the electric would be shut off at the business Tuesday. An Inner Circle employee went to the Giant Eagle and bought four Reload It gift cards, valued at $500 each, and gave the caller the numbers on the back of the cards.
After the call, the employee became suspicious and discovered he had made a payment to Ohio Edison earlier this month.
