Seven bars will be the stops for Austintown Zombie Crawl

AUSTINTOWN

The inaugural Austintown Zombie Crawl will take place Friday at seven Mahoning Avenue bars.

The undead – bearing pub crawl wristbands – will be shuttled to the bars where they will moan and growl their way through drink and food specials.

“The people of Austintown should be a ready for a big zombie takeover like we have never before seen, with the undead snarling down the street and at the various bars,” said Christian Rinehart, owner of O’Donold’s Irish Pub and event founder.

The crawlers will be transported for free to all the stops. “A hay truck and a bus will do a continuous loop, allowing wrist-band wearing participants to enjoy the evening worry-free,” said Rinehart.

It all starts at O’Donold’s in Austintown Plaza, where registration will take place from 5 to 7 p.m.. Makeup artists will be on-site during those hours to assist with the zombie-fying process.

Zombie Crawl wristbands, which will give crawlers access to specials and entrance to the official Zombie After Party at O’Donold’s, are $3 in advance and $5 at the door. Proceeds from the event will benefit autism programs in the Mahoning Valley.

Here is the schedule and list of participating bars and their hours:

5-7:30 p.m.: Registration at O’Donold’s Irish Pub; the official Zombie After Party and costume contest will take place at O’Donold’s from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., featuring the band Northern Whiskey.

8 p.m.: Official zombie photo shoot.

7 p.m. to midnight: Zombie Crawl at Buffalo Wild Wings in Austintown Plaza; Mojo’s Pub and Grill, 6292 Mahoning Ave.; Pink Elephant, 6135 Mahoning Ave.; Voodoo Lounge, 4740 Mahoning Ave.; YOLO Grille and Taproom, 5529 Mahoning Ave.; and Bill’s Place, 4771 Mahoning Ave., (until 11 p.m.).
