Ohio man indicted on murder charges in baby daughter’s death

CINCINNATI (AP) — A man accused of slamming his 3-month-old daughter to the floor the day before she died has been indicted on charges including aggravated murder.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph Deters says a grand jury today also indicted 35-year-old James Phillips on charges of murder, felonious assault and child endangering. He could be sentenced to death if convicted of all the charges.

Deters’ says Mount Healthy police responded Oct. 17 to a 911 call about a baby in distress at a home in the Cincinnati suburb and found Phillips with the baby and his other two children.

Jasmine Phillips was hospitalized and died the next day. Deters says the coroner ruled she died from blunt force trauma.
