First Presbyterian to host dinner fundraiser

First Presbyterian Church, 3654 Main St., will host a pasta dinner fundraiser from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 8.

Cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children 4 to 12 and free for kids 3 and under.

The meal will include meatballs, salad, bread, beverage and dessert. Takeouts are available.

Proceeds from the dinner will benefit the church’s mission team. They are preparing to send nine youths and Rev. Jamie Milton to Peru on a mission trip.

During the trip, the team will visit churches in Lima and partner with an organization that helps women and teen girls who have been victims of domestic violence and abuse. The team needs to raise $20,000 for the trip.

Austintown JWL women receive honors

AUSTINTOWN

Austintown Junior Women’s League gave special recognition from the General Federation of Women’s Clubs to two members during its October meeting.

Shirley Schmidt was recognized for 18 years of volunteer service with inclusion of her name into the Ohio Blue Book of Distinguished Women.

Kerri Sahli also received an award from the GFWC for her positive influence and volunteer service to the Juniorettes.

Church plans Nov. 14 variety dance

NORTH JACKSON

The Basilica National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon, 2759 N. Lipkey Road, will host a variety dance from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Nov. 14.

Cost is $5 per person and no more than $20 per family.

Potluck finger foods will be served; guests are asked to take a dish to the event.
