YOUNGSTOWN
The United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley is accepting letters of intent to seek funding from nonprofit organizations delivering education and emergency services in Mahoning County and in Girard, Liberty and Hubbard in Trumbull County.
Nonprofit organizations that wish to apply for funding should visit www.ymvunitedway.org for planning documents that outline the focus areas and strategies. Sunday is the deadline to submit a letter of intent to Laura Weymer, director of community impact, via email to lweymer@ymvunitedway.org.
Agencies with programs not receiving funding that wish to apply must submit a letter, the details for which can be found on the United Way website. Programs currently funded by United Way are not required to submit a letter of intent.
“By following the lead of United Way worldwide and working with our community partners on focused impact areas, we will continue to create powerful collaborations to address our Valley’s specific issues while providing comprehensive services and measurable results for those in need,” said Bob Hannon, president of United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley.
The letter must include an organization description, statement of need, proposed program and other funding sources.
For all accepted new agencies and current partner agencies, grant applications will be open via Apricot for Funders, an online system, Nov. 16 and close Jan. 15, 2016. Applications will not be accepted after the deadline. For information on the requirements and process, call Weymer at the United Way office at 330-746-8494.
Organizations must meet the following eligibility guidelines and have available for review: By-laws, affirmative action policy/nondiscrimination policies, directors and officers insurance, liability insurance, board-approved fiscal policies and procedures, board-approved personnel policies and procedures handbook, and articles of incorporation.
United Way has 28 partner agencies that receive funding to provide more than 50 health and human-service programs and initiatives that create change.
