Chorale to present Halloween concert

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning Valley Chorale, under the direction of Kris Harper, will present a free family friendly Halloween concert at 1 p.m. Oct. 31 at St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave. Titled “Night Noises,” the concert will feature music from “Phantom of the Opera,” “Jekyll & Hyde,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and other movies and musicals. Sierra McCorvey will be the soloist and Dominic DeLaurentis will be the accompanist. Guests are encouraged to attend in costume, and a best costume contest will take place after the concert. Chorus begins ‘Messiah’ rehearsals

NEW CASTLE, PA.

The New Castle Music Club Chorus has begun rehearsals for the 75th annual presentation of Handel’s “Messiah.” The oratorio will take place at 3 p.m. Nov. 29 at St. Vitus Roman Catholic Parish, 910 S. Mercer St.

Rehearsals are every Monday night in October from 7-9 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 125 N. Jefferson St., and in November at St. Vitus. Directed for the 25th time by Harry Cunningham, who is hoping for a chorus of at least 120 members, this landmark presentation will include additional features such as liturgical dancers and an antiphonal chorus.
