Reaction to veto

Youngstown

U.S. Sen. Rob Portman, a Republican from the Cincinnati area, said he was “extremely disappointed” that President Barack Obama vetoed the National Defense Authorization Act on Thursday that authorized $9.4 million in funding for an upgrade to the indoor firing-range facility at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Vienna.

“YARS has become a model for other Air Reserve stations throughout the country, but to maintain this level of high performance, we must upgrade this firing- range facility,” he said. “The president’s veto of an overwhelmingly bipartisan bill is disappointing, and I plan to work with my colleagues on both sides of aisle to override his veto.”

Earlier this month, the Senate voted 70-27 in support of the defense act.
