Boardman cops find cocaine on man

BOARDMAN

A Youngstown man faces a felony drug-possession charge after township police allegedly found cocaine on his person while arresting him on multiple misdemeanor warrants Thursday.

Damone Alexander, 22, was arrested on warrants for obstructing official business, resisting arrest and receiving stolen property. Those charges stem from an incident Oct. 11 when Alexander allegedly stole a bicycle from a South Avenue residence and then ran from police.

When police responded to the Chipotle location on U.S. Route 224, where, according to a police report, Alexander had retuned to pick up a paycheck, to arrest him on warrants, they found a knife and a bag containing a white substance on him. A field test determined that the substance was cocaine, according to a report.

Charges of drug possession and carrying concealed weapons were added.

Alexander is scheduled to appear in Mahoning County Area Court here next week.
