Woman sentenced

YOUNGSTOWN

Judge Maureen Sweeney of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court sentenced a Boardman woman Wednesday to two years in prison for her role in the September 2013 overdose death of an 18-year-old in Boardman.

Marijo Mazon, 48, was sentenced on charges of trafficking in drugs and corrupting another with drugs. The sentence was recommended by prosecutors and defense attorneys as part of Mazon’s plea agreement.

Mazon will be given credit for 716 days served in the county jail while awaiting the outcome of her case. Two men were sentenced to prison earlier this month for their roles in the crime.

Erin Trell died Sept. 30, 2013, in Boardman from a combination of marijuana, cocaine and Xanax.

Mazon apologized before she was sentenced.

The entire project is slated to be complete by the end of the month.

Motorists also will not be able to access U.S. Route 224 eastbound from the southern leg of Southern Boulevard on Monday and Tuesday for a drainage repair project.
