Huntington Bank alerted customers Wednesday that all debit/ATM transactions from the weekend through Monday were inadvertently double-posted to accounts Tuesday evening.

The Columbus-based bank said this will affect account balances in the short term, but balances will be corrected, and any fees related to the error will be waived.

“We are proactively reaching out to our customers to let them know we are aware of and addressing the issue,” bank representatives said in a statement released Wednesday. “We are working to correct impacted customer balances today and will waive any related fees.”

The bank did not say how many customers were affected. As of 1 p.m. Monday, all accounts were corrected to reflect debit-card transaction reversals for double-posted debit or ATM transactions from the weekend through Monday. Fees incorrectly assessed due to incorrect account balances were restored overnight.
