FOOTBALL

Computer ratings: Poland (8-0), Crestview (7-1), Columbiana (7-1) and Warren JFK can start making plans for Week 11 of the season. They are among the two dozens area teams showing up on this week’s OHSAA computer playoff ratings. Poland is second in Division III Region 7, Crestview is first in Division V Region 15, Columbiana is second in Division VI Region 19 and Warren JFK is second in Division VII Region 23. As Week 9 approaches, 13 other teams are in position for postseason action should they win out: Austintown Fitch (Division I Region 1, 14th), Warren Harding (Division II Region 3, 7th), Boardman (Division II Region 5, 6th), Ursuline (Division IV Region 11, 5th), Cardinal Mooney (Region 11, 6th), Hubbard (Region 11, 7th), Salem (Division IV Region 13, 4th), LaBrae (Division V Region 15, 6th), East Palestine (Region 15, 7th), Lisbon (Division VI Region 19, 6th), Western Reserve (Region 19, 7th), McDonald (Region 19, 8th), Mathews (Division VII Region 23, 6th) and Jackson-Milton (region 23, 8th). The other teams: are Howland (10th) and Canfield (12th) in Region 7; Lakeview (10th) and Struthers (12th) in Region 11; South Range (9th) in Region 15; Brookfield (10th) in Region 19; and Wellsville (9th) in Region 23). Next week’s ratings will be shaken up by some of Friday’s rivalry games including Austintown Fitch-Boardman, Cardinal-Mooney-Ursuline and Hubbard-Poland.

Ursuline 5, Hubbard 4

HUBBARD

Mark Fisilo had a hat trick and Gianni Quattro scored two goals to give Ursuline the edge in a shootout in the Austintown Division II District Tournament. Alden Sexton scored two goals and Ben Rubinic and Khaled Kassem each added on the Eagles’ loss. Ursuline will travel to Poland on Saturday.

Mathews 3, Vienna 1

MATHEWS

Mathews beat Vienna off of two goals from Kenny Wallace and one from Emily Strama. Wallace and Strama each had an assist and goalkeeper Cly O’Dell made nine saves. Ben Luli had Vienna’s goal that was assisted by Matt DeAngelis. Daulton Metheny made five saves.
