Austintown attorney gets 2-year probation

COLUMBUS

The Ohio Supreme Court unanimously has imposed a two-year stayed suspension from law practice on an Austintown lawyer.

The state’s top court acted concerning Atty. David Gerchak on the grounds that he failed to deposit pre-paid legal fees into a client trust account and failed to communicate the basis of his fee to a client.

The entire suspension is stayed on the conditions that he must work with a monitoring attorney during his two-year probation and annually complete at least three hours of continuing education on law-office management.

The court found Gerchak had no dishonest or selfish motive. Gerchak could not be reached to comment.
