Meyer names Barrett Ohio State's starting QB
COLUMBUS J.T. Barrett will start at quarterback for the top-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes against Rutgers on Saturday night.
Ohio State coach Urban Meyer announced Tuesday during the Big Ten Conference's weekly conference call that Barrett will replace Cardale Jones, who hasn't lost a game as the Buckeyes' QB, but has struggled at times this season.
Jones stepped in last season after Barrett broke his ankle against Michigan and led the Buckeyes to big wins over Wisconsin in the Big Ten title game, Alabama in the national semifinals and Oregon in the title game.
But the rifle-armed Jones has struggled this season and Barrett increasingly shared duties in recent weeks.
