High court serves suspension on Austintown lawyer

COLUMBUS

The Ohio Supreme Court has unanimously imposed a two-year stayed suspension from law practice on an Austintown lawyer.

The state’s top court acted concerning Atty. David Gerchak on the grounds that he failed to deposit pre-paid legal fees into a client trust account and failed to communicate the basis of his fee to a client.

The entire suspension is stayed on the conditions that he must work with a monitoring attorney during his two-year probation and annually complete at least three hours of continuing education on law office management.

The court found Gerchak had no dishonest or selfish motive.

Gerchak could not be reached for comment.
