Mahoning County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will gather at 7 p.m. Monday at the ministry building at St. Charles Church, 7325 Westview Drive. The wrong date was announced in Friday’s Club Calendar.
Dr. Marcelle Wilson of the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor will present a program, “Shout Youngstown! Industrial Heritage Preservation, Planning and Interpretation in Ohio’s Steel Valley.”
Poland Library to host Downton Abbey event

Librarian Kathy Richter will present a program, “Downton Abbey Visits Biltmore Estate,” at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 26 in the meeting room of Poland Library, 311 S. Main St.
Richter visited the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C., this spring for a “Downton Abbey” costume exhibit. She will provide photographs and descriptions of the “Downton Abbey” costumes as well as a brief history of Biltmore and a look at the everyday life of the estate.

Cigar Night is planned Oct. 29 at Lake Club
POLAND
A cigar night at the Lake Club, 1140 Paulin Road, is set for 6 p.m. Oct. 29.
Bobby Newman, executive vice president of the J.C. Newman Cigar Co., America’s oldest family owned cigar company, will attend.
Tickets are $89.95 and limited to 100 guests. Three rare cigars are included in the cost of admission, and they will be paired with spirits, charcuterie and appetizers. A portion of each ticket will benefit The Cigar Family Charitable Foundation, the Newman family’s charity.
A silent auction with exclusive items from Bobby Newman’s Collection also will be offered, and proceeds will benefit United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley.

Foundation plans basket auction

The K.I.D. Cancer Foundation will host its 6th Annual Basket Auction on Nov. 7 at Parkman Community House, state Route 422. Doors open at 3 and drawings start at 6.
Many items will be available for bidding. There also will be a $1,000 or No Deal game, 50-50 raffle, door prize, food and beverages. Credit cards will be accepted.

Canine groups to sponsor event

Friends of Fido and Legacy Dog Rescue will sponsor a Night at the Races on Nov. 6 at the Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. with the first race at 7. Admission is $10.
There also will be a basket auction, 50-50 raffle, lottery tree and refreshments for sale.
