Fire hydrant flood
YOUNGSTOWN
A fire hydrant that was displaced Friday morning, causing Poland Avenue to flood at Alpine Street, will be replaced next week, said Joe Dunlap, city water department construction superintendent.
The damage, which was reported at 7:30 a.m. outside the city’s wastewater treatment plant, could have occurred for a variety of reasons, including a water-pressure surge or a vehicle hitting the hydrant, he said.
Shortly after 9 a.m., water department workers were still at the scene, but the only remaining evidence of water leakage was a wet pavement and a pit full of water where the hydrant was displaced.
