Mount Hope Veterans Memorial Park committee sets banquet

Mount Hope Veterans Memorial Park Inc. committee is planning an old school-new school banquet on the theme, “Honoring the Past While Supporting the Future,” from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 24 at the McGuffey Center, 1649 Jacobs Road.

Honorees will be Raymond Carter, Arlette T. Gatewood, Delores Murphy, T.J. Rodgers, John Copeland, Anthony Hollinshead, Julius Oliver, Arthur Lemons Jr. and Lynn R. Phillips.

Guest speaker will be activist and author, Betty J. Dopson, who wrote “Shared Secrets of Elder Sisters.” She also is an honoree.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Matrix.

There will be a 50-50 raffle, basket auction and food.

Committee members are Annette Brown, Aundra Brown, Linda Toney, Clifford Dobbs, Jimmy Hughes, Nathan Queener, the Rev. Yvonne Hobson and the Rev. Gwendolyn Johnson.
