Trinity Industries has closed its fabricating facility, known as Plant 31, which manufactures guard rails for roads and highways, costing 16 employees their jobs.

The closing comes about five months after the firm laid off 43 workers at the galvanizing plant, according to 21 WFMJ TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.

The offices located next to Plant 31 will remain open and there will be no layoffs there, Operations at the Trinity plant on the other side of Interstate 80, which makes parts for railcars and barges, is not affected and may be able to absorb some of the jobs lost at Plant 31.

The 16 furloughed workers have the option of accepting a severance package or asking to be put on a list for upcoming openings at the Brier Hill facility, WFMJ reported.
