Caring Hands sets Saturday dinner

COLUMBIANA

Caring Hands Food Ministry will host its third annual spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion Post 290, 44403 state Route 14. There will be a salute to veterans at 7:15 and live entertainment from 7:30 to 9:30.

Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children; those under age 3 eat for free. There also will be a basket auction and 50-50 raffle.

All proceeds will benefit Caring Hands, located at the First Church of Christ, 20 W. Martin St., East Palestine. They feed over 700 people monthly and are supported by public donations. For information about distributions, call 330-426-3270 or visit www.cocep.org.

Church to host harvest party

GIRARD

New Life Christian Fellowship, 2088 Tibbetts Wick Road, will host its annual harvest party at noon Oct. 24. The family-friendly event will include games, prizes, free hot dogs and snow cones and a trunk-or-treat.

It is open to the community.

Volunteers needed for St. Pat’s event

YOUNGSTOWN

Volunteers are being sought for a spaghetti dinner at St. Patrick’s Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 1.

Assistance is needed for set up and serving from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and clean up from 4 to 5 p.m.

Baskets, cards and other donations are being collected and must be completed by Oct. 29.

2nd annual Pet Masquerade Ball set

GIRARD

The second annual Pet Masquerade Ball is planned for 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 24 at Tod Park, off Park Avenue, for pets and their families. The event will benefit children and St. Francis Cadets for Pets.

Free frozen yogurt and a bag of treats will be given to pets. Carriage rides with Raja, an American Mastiff, will be available, and participants can meet CJ the rainbow parrot and Benny his pirate.

There will be prizes for best pet costumes, children’s costumes and pet and owner look-a-likes. There also will be Caring for a Pet art awards and exhibit, mask making, concession sweets and beverages, blessing of pets, freestyle dancing with pets at the Maypole, games, entertainment, bone hunt, face painting, doggie apple dunking, 50-50 raffle and portraits.

Bazaar and dinner set at Gustavus church

FARMDALE

An annual bazaar and turkey dinner at Gustavus Federated Church, 8850 Youngstown Kingsville Road, will be 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 24.

The meal will also include dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, squash, cranberries, coleslaw, rolls, beverage and dessert. Carryouts will be available. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. A country store in the church parlor will open at 1, and baked goods and homemade candy will be sold.

There is a handicap accessible ground-level entrance at the back of the church.
