BREAKING NEWS | Weekly water-test results from Mill Creek Park show relatively low levels of E. coli

YOUNGSTOWN — Results released today by the Mahoning County District Board of Health showed relatively low levels of E. coli bacteria from samples collected in Mill Creek MetroParks’ waterways.

The results mark the last in a 12-week testing program initiated after earlier testing found elevated levels of E. coli in Lake Newport after a massive fish kill. Mill Creek MetroParks’ three lakes have been closed for recreational use since July.

County health board officials have said that it will take about a month to analyze data, which includes water-test results and weather-pattern information, collected over the last 12 weeks and to draw any conclusions about baseline E. coli levels in the water.
