Cuba-based band to play at White House

WASHINGTON

A Cuba-based musical band is set to perform at the White House for the first time in more than 50 years.

The Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club is on the lineup for a White House reception today in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. President Barack Obama is scheduled to deliver remarks.

‘Next Top Model’ to end in December

TV’s “America’s Next Top Model” is leaving the runway.

The CW reality competition series will wrap in December with the current season’s finale.

In a statement Wednesday, network President Mark Pedowitz called the series “a global pop- culture phenomenon.”

Tyra Banks, the program’s host and executive producer, just launched the syndicated daytime talk show “FABLife.”

“America’s Next Top Model” debuted in 2003 on the now-defunct UPN channel and was the first series on fledgling CW in 2006. The show’s finale will air Dec. 4.

Nielsen says 15.3M watched Dem debate

NEW YORK

They aren’t quite Trump numbers, but the 15.3 million people who watched the Democratic presidential debate on CNN was still the biggest TV audience ever for a Democratic debate.

The Nielsen company said Tuesday’s debate audience exceeded the 10.7 million people who watched Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama debate on ABC in April 2008.
