Home invader gets 11 years in prison
YOUNGSTOWN
One of three Struthers men charged in an April 10 home-invasion burglary has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.
Timothy Conzett, 25, of Snyder Avenue drew the sentence Tuesday from Judge Shirley J. Christian of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
Conzett had pleaded guilty earlier to felonious assault with a firearm specification and to burglary in the home invasion.
He also had pleaded guilty to three counts of felonious assault in an earlier case involving a dispute over a woman that erupted into a shootout in a Struthers street.
Judge Christian is scheduled to sentence a co-defendant in the home invasion, Marc L. Cooper, 20, of Deer Creek Drive, at 1:30 p.m. today.
Cooper pleaded guilty to felonious assault with a firearm specification and burglary in the home invasion.
A third defendant in the home invasion, Colin Anzevino, 21, of Snyder Avenue, who had pleaded guilty Sept. 14 to aggravated burglary with a firearm specification and had been awaiting sentencing, hanged himself Oct. 4 in the county jail.
The prosecution had recommended an eight-year prison term for Anzevino.
While Conzett was free on bond in the Feb. 21 shootout case in which Anzevino was listed as a victim, police said the trio broke into an Oakland Boulevard home in Struthers, taking 17 guns and the homeowner’s prescription medication.
The homeowner suffered head injuries and a stab wound to his left arm.
Conzett’s sentence cannot be appealed because it was agreed to by the prosecution and defense and adopted by the judge.
Judge Christian said the shootout struck her “as something out of the Wild West.” She added, “The fact that nobody got hurt is amazing.”
