Free ‘Trick Nor Treat’

Beyond Expectations South Bridge Therapy and Learning Center, 725 Boardman-Canfield Road, Suite E-1, will host its fourth annual “Trick Nor Treat” Halloween event from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday.

The event is trick-or-treating without food, inclusive for children with food allergies, special diets or simply for a less sugary holiday experience. There will be pumpkin decorating and crafts, games, costume contest, basket auction and a visit from “bunnies in baskets.” It is free and open to the community. For information, call 330-307-7983.

Bus driver training

BOARDMAN

Mahoning County Educational Service Center will offer free commercial driver’s license training to entice people to apply to become part-time bus drivers to address the driver shortage through the county.

The training will be offered through the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center’s Adult Education Program. The job openings are immediate for various school districts with a possibility for eventual contracted positions, earning a minimum of $15 to $20 per hour.

Kids donating hair

NORTH JACKSON

The students at Jackson-Milton Elementary School, 14110 Mahoning Ave., will have a Children With Hair Loss assembly at 3 p.m. Thursday in the elementary gym. Seven students have volunteered to donate their locks to this cause and will be getting a haircut at the assembly.

The owner of New Styles Hair Salon in North Jackson will assist in cutting the donated hair.

Child-sex sentence

YOUNGSTOWN

A man who pleaded guilty to one count of gross sexual imposition on a 13-year-old and two counts each of domestic violence and child endangering got five years’ probation.

Judge Shirley J. Christian of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court imposed the sentence Friday on Quincy A. Henderson, 39, of Meadowbrook Avenue in Boardman, who already had been jailed 753 days awaiting disposition of the case.

Henderson must register annually as a sex offender for 15 years.

Liberty car theft

LIBERTY

Police are investigating a theft from a vehicle reported Monday.

The vehicle’s owner said someone had taken a handgun, a knife and $30 in change from his car while it was parked overnight on Shady Lane Drive. There were no signs of forced entry.
