Ryan, O'Brien leading business delegation to Cuba
YOUNGSTOWN
U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan and state Rep. Sean O’Brien will lead a delegation of Northeast Ohio business officials on a trip to Cuba in an effort to open a new economic market.
They leave Wednesday and return Sunday.
O’Brien of Bazetta, D-63rd, said today the trip is to develop a relationship with Cuba to help Ohio businesses grow in the Communist island nation. This is likely the first such delegation to visit Cuba, O’Brien said, since the United States officially reestablished diplomatic relations with Cuba in July.
That came after a 54-year embargo. Also, the president has relaxed some travel restrictions making this trip possible.
Ryan of Howland, D-13th, said the area is “on the cutting edge of taking advantage of a new opportunity.”
